Beautiful gorgeous darling little Rio, weighed in at 5lbs at 33 wks gestation, with a mop of black
hair and an oh-so-handsome face!!
Young brother to big sis Estrella (8), and big brother to little sis Skyla (2), and new addition as
of 2nd Nov 2009, baby brother River Valentine.
Your Daddy and I are so in love with you little man. Just wish things could be different and you
would be now be 3!!!
You are always in my heart and my thoughts my little one and Papa Balmer and Nana Potter will be
with you and be soooo proud.

I had been diagnosed with diabetes when pregnant with Rio, and suffered with other complications. On
the Friday before his birth I had been feeling very unwell and discovered my blood sugars were very
low, I phoned NHS 24 at around 1am, who sent an immediate ambulance, I was very disorientated which
I now know was caused by a condition I had and was extremely life threatening called lactic
acidosis, which my Consultant later told me had probably stopped Rio's heart. When the nurses did
the scan and called in my Consultant from on-call, I really wasn't aware that there was a problem
with my darling baby, but when she did another scan and I looked at her, and asked what was going
on, she told me there was no heartbeat, I was crazy and distraught, I had been feeling his striker
kicks in my belly all day!!, this couldn't be true??!!, a couple minutes later my partner and Rio's
Dad Robert (who had been following behind the ambulance in the car) rushed in and was immediately
told that our boy was gone, the pain from there on has taken much of the memories of that night and
the next few days, which I had in the HDU recovering from my illness, then on the Tuesday 14th
February, Valentines Day, my Angel Rio was born looking sooooo beautiful.......
From then darling until you are in our arms again, a million miss you tears, and our love for you
goes to forever and back..... My wee Star Rio xoxoxoxoxoxox
